About

LOCATED IN BATH, ENGLAND. FREDDIE STOCKTON IS FRESH ON THE ART SCENE WITH A DEVELOPED MEDIUM THAT HE PERFECTED WHILE STUDYING FINE ART A-LEVEL AT KINGSWOOD SCHOOL. HIS WORK FOCUSES ON HYPEREALIST CHARCOAL ON PAPER.

Stockton's work focuses on the relationship of the human form and how it sits within space and it's interaction between different textures. Common to his work is the contrast of values and how the subject either seeps into the background or stands out. He is heavily inspired by the works of Jono Dry as well as moments captured in dark jazz clubs where the use of chiaroscuro is exemplified. The outcome achieved is a detail that goes beyond the photo that the viewer can almost feel every hair and pour in the skin as they look closer.

In future pieces, Stockton wants to draw more on the contrast of the high detail with fluid marks utilising his chosen medium of charcoal. As well as looking for inspiration from fashion photographers and how they use bold shapes and how they position the model in engaging positions that are more of a statement from first glance.
